Jan Kujawa (born 16.02.1923) recounts his youth and life in the village of Słupka near Konin, where he lived with his parents, Walenty and Janina, and his siblings. Trade in the area was completely dominated by the Jewish population, which was relatively numerous. Jan Kujawa also recalls how about 100 priests and 4 bishops who were imprisoned in the monastery were brought to the nearby Ląd. Jan supplied them with food and medicine. One day he did not return home. He was arrested by Gestapo officers and then transported for many hours in a cattle wagon. Much was still to change in his life…
