A CARD FROM THE CALENDAR - TERESA AND RICHARD SOLCZYNSKI
Beginning in November of 1939, the Sołczyńskis lived in the Warsaw Mokotów district, at 3 Szustra Street (nowadays Dąbrowskiego). There, they raised their four children, including a daughter, disabled from the moment of her birth. Despite considerable obligations towards their own family, they found a place in their hearts and in their home to a Jew by the name of Jakub Firsztemberg, a former employee of the Steam Engine Works. He was wanted by the Gestapo and used the alias Wacław Ciszewski. Between April and November of 1942, he stayed in the Sołczyńskis apartment, hidden in the children’s room. Jakub survived the war and maintained close relations with the Sołczyńskis until his dying day.
