A CARD FROM THE CALENDAR - ROMAN UŚCIEŃSKI
It was to him, among others, that Simon Wiesenthal owed his life. „I had to escape during the day and wait [together with the other escapee – Artur Szeimann] in a certain apartment, from where I was to be taken in the evening,” Wiesenthal testified after the war. That „certain apartment” belonged to Uścieński, an employee of a Lviv construction company. Thanks to the help of a Pole, the escape was successful.
