A CARD FROM THE CALENDAR - NICHOLAS IWANIUK
When a group of fugitives from the Janów Podlaski ghetto knocked on Mikołaj Iwaniuk’s door, he didn’t hesitate for a second. The three Jews needed immediate shelter and found it in Iwaniuk’s outbuildings. Perla Goldszaft, Mendel Rybkowski, and Noah Rodzynek were soon joined by a further five fugitives from the liquidated ghetto and work camp. For two years, Iwaniuk displayed great dedication towards his charges, who managed to survive until the liberation. After the war, they all left Poland.
