A CARD FROM THE CALENDAR - MARCIN WEJNER
Marcin Wejner had two children of his own, Aniela and Kazio, but also a lot of space in his heart for others, especially the abandoned and the lonely. When he found a small boy near his outbuildings, he didn’t give it much thought, but simply brought him into his house and raised him as if he’d been his own child, offering him safety and love. The little Beldonek (as he called himself) lived with Aniela, Kazio, and their parents until the villagers started whispering about the Wejners harbouring a Jewish child. Marcin Wejner wanted to safeguard both his family and the little Beldonek, so he found him safe shelter elsewhere.
