A CARD FROM THE CALENDAR - KAZIMIERA KŁUSEK
Everyone in Łańcut knew the restaurant founded by Konstanty Danielewicz, although due to financial reasons it was frequented only by the elite. For decades, it has enjoyed the reputation of the best in town – a beautiful building, elegant interiors, impeccable service and exquisite dishes. This is where Kazimiera Kłusek worked. She fulfilled her duties conscientiously, and when the war came and the Germans organized a round-up in the town, she hid a Jewish family in the basement. The entrance was well camouflaged – from the side of the pigsty. Kazimiera regularly brought food there, which was left over from the meals prepared in the restaurant. Little Dawid was particularly close to her – she called him her Mateuszek. One night she did not find them in their hiding place. They were planning to go to England – to their cousin’s place. Whether they succeeded – remains unknown.
