In Józef’s ears sounded the words of Mr. and Mrs. Kohn, friendly neighbors from before the war: „Józek, save our sons. In you all hope.” Józef worked in a Ćmiel iron ore mine as manager of shipping. And as the manager, he approached the Germans, asking them to send some Jews to work. Among them were precisely the Kohn brothers, as well as Berek Bretstein. After some time, he forged false documents for them and enabled them to escape.
