June of 1944 was a beacon of light and hope for the Zyskowskis, despite the ongoing war, for it was then that they welcomed their first child into this world, a daughter named Małgosia. They hired Stanisława Panek to care for their new-born daughter in their Mokotów flat at 85 Kazimierzowska Street. Panek was Jewish and concealed that by using an assumed name. Their relative peace was shattered on August 1st, when the Warsaw Uprising began. The Zyskowskis left the capital, and Stanisława was sent to Janina’s sister, to Gidel. All of them managed to survive occupation. After the war, Stanisława Panek went to the United States.
