A CARD FROM THE CALENDAR - JADWIGA PIOTROWSKA
What mattered to Jadwiga was people. Everyone. In his face – often tormented, beaten, emaciated, terrified – she saw a reflection of God. As an employee of the social department, she carried out her duties in the Warsaw Ghetto. And from there – in cooperation with Janusz Korczak, among others – she helped smuggle adults and children to the Aryan side. Jews knew that at her apartment they would get warm food and help in finding shelter. She saved many, because it was necessary.
