A CARD FROM THE CALENDAR - FRANCES AND MICHAEL SIKORA
The Sikoras were simple folk that toiled a small patch of land and lived off it. They could neither write nor read, and they never left their village. This village, Płonki, was their whole world, but they didn’t lack for heart, generosity, and courage. They had no qualms about accepting into their humble abode a babe mere seven months of age, the daughter of Crooman Lejbus, whom they took care of until the war ended. The Lejbuses left the country together with their saved daughter and went to Israel.
