A CARD FROM THE CALENDAR - BRYGIDA AND HIPOLIT MALISZEWSKI
The Germans were herding a group of Jews through the streets of Zamość. Suddenly, near a tenement house at 18 Nowy Rynek Street, a young woman slipped out of the column and ran into the Maliszewskis’ flat. She was followed by a Gestapo officer. He walked the length and breadth of the flat, but did not find the escapee. It did not occur to him to move the standing mirror. It was there that the Poles hid the unknown woman, who survived thanks to them.
