A CARD FROM THE CALENDAR - ANNA CHRZANOWSKA NEE KOWALEWSKA
“Today is the day we wash their clothes, get some hot water into the tub” – said Anna to her teen niece, Jadzia Kowalewska (who’d later take the surname Kosiorek), and went to the attic of her Wawer flat on Powszechna 7. Anna Chrzanowska had been hiding a Jewish family of five, a couple with three children, for some time. She displayed dedication and care in ensuring they felt safe, received warm meals, had clean clothes, and could always sleep soundly.
