A CARD FROM THE CALENDAR - ANNA AND THADDEUS

You are here:

“Love is hard to cultivate, as it requires perseverance, while hate grows quickly, like a weed” – these are the words that Sara Diller wrote to Anna Dzikowska, recollecting her nightmarish wartime experiences. Before Sara wound up in the ghetto, her mother hid her with Anna Bogdanowicz, while leaving all the valuables with the Dzikowskis who were to pass them along to Sara. When the girl was forced to leave her hiding place, the valuables from the Dzikowskis helped her purchase false documents. Thanks to them, she could walk about freely and managed to survive until the liberation. Sara and the Dzikowskis maintained close contact until their dying day.
