Maria Bałabaj (née Kodzis) was born in 1928. She was the daughter of Bolesław and Tekla. During World War II she lived in Wasilanki (Lithuania). For about a year she hid a Jewish girl, Fanie Selbst-Fuks.

Maria Bałabaj was awarded the title Righteous Among the Nations in 1989.
