Kazimiera Berczyńska (née Jankowska), a retired teacher, her son Wacław and his wife Zofia Berczyńska (née Goltz), lived in Częstochowa during World War II. In their house they sheltered a six-year-old girl of Jewish origin, Ilona Frydman.

Kazimiera Berczyńska, Wacław Berczyński and Zofia Berczyńska were awarded the title of Righteous Among the Nations in 1986.
