When she was born, she was named Catherine. When she died, instead of the name, she was tattooed with the number 63718 on her body. Her birthplace was in the village of Harta and she said goodbye to it in Auschwitz – June 4, 1944. The reason she was taken there was that she was sheltering a person of Jewish origin. The Germans arrested her on May 21, 1943, and after less than five months, they took her to the place where, as they proudly wrote, „Arbeit macht frei”.
