Franciszek Baran lived in the village of Węgliska (Podkarpackie voivodeship) during World War II. Son of Jan and Maria (née Guz). Husband of Helena (née Baran), father of Zofia (née Babiarz). Together with his wife and mother Maria, he sheltered a Jewish woman named Golda Grunfeld (née Meir) and her two sons Herszel and Jankiel.
