Antonii and Leokadia Wiszowaci lived in the village of Wiszowate in Podlasie during the German occupation, where they ran a farm and raised a large family. Despite the absolute ban on helping people of Jewish origin, they were not indifferent to the suffering of others. They selflessly provided assistance to Jews, offering them a warm place, a meal, and often a place to sleep. On August 3, 1943, as a result of denunciation, Antonii, Leokadia, and their eight children were arrested and sent to prison in Białystok. The Wiszowat family paid the highest price for their humanity towards persecuted Jews, a price enforced by the brutal laws imposed on Poles by the German occupier. On September 18, 1943, in the afternoon, Antonii, Leokadia, and their eight children were murdered in an execution at Grabówka. They were buried in a mass, nameless grave near the site of the execution, which was the largest place of execution in the Białystok region between 1941 and 1944.
