A NAVY-BLUE POLICE OFFICER
Mr. Bogusław Ciulemba told us the story of his father – Franciszek Ciulembie, who in Gdów was the commander of the navy blue police, and at the same time belonged to the Home Army.
One day, the Blue Police officers encountered a Jew from Mstow, who was on his way to visit his girlfriend in Gdow, whom Ciulemba knew. The police arrested the Jew. Franciszek Ciulemba told his subordinates Volksdeutche not to hand over the young man to the Germans and to let him go. At the same time, he made them understand that if they turned him over to the Gestapo, the Home Army would find out about this fact. Therefore, freedom was returned to the Jew, but in order for everything to be consistent in the official documentation, they had to record the person they had met at random. After the war, same Jew asked Franciszek for help in getting to Israel, and he helped him again.
