A CARD FROM THE CALENDAR - SISTERS BIEŃ, JADWIGA AND HELENA
“I will always remember you. As who else can be remembered so well if not you who risked your life during the Nazi massacre to save a Jewish girl…”, wrote rescued Rachela Nekrycz to the Bień sisters years later. Jadwiga and Helena Bień were teachers, both working in Łubnice, where Rachela and her sister Blumie attended before the war. Sisterly love and sisterly support. They all understood each other without words. One needed help, the other offered it. The Nekrycz sisters survived the war and emigrated to Israel.
