A CARD FROM THE CALENDAR - JADWIGA KOZŁOWSKA-BOARKOWSKA
After liquidation of the Miechów ghetto in 1943, Irena Neuman was looking for refuge on the Aryan side in Cracow. Escaping from the ghetto exhausted her body, already severely strained by the war. Mrs. Jadwiga Kozłowska-Barkowska gave Irena shelter in her own home. She also went to Miechów to secure Irena’s valuables. She took care of every aspect of her life, supporting and keeping her spirits up until liberation. “Her generosity in rescuing Jews, giving material and moral help knew no bounds”, rescued Irena recalled years later.
