Stefania Bartczak (née Krzewińska) was born on 19 December 1911. During World War II, she lived in Warsaw, then in Michalina, and from 1944, in Chojnów-Pilawa (currently Pilawa). Elżbieta’s mother. Stefania hid and took care of a Jewish girl Izabela Lewi, for whom she arranged false documents. She also took in under her roof a young Jewish boy (Józef Rosenbadem), an escapee from the Warsaw ghetto.

Stefania Bartczak was awarded the title of Righteous Among the Nations in 1998.
