Janina Bajurko (nee Malec) lived in the village of Maziły (Lubelskie Voivodeship) during World War II. She took care of a 12-year-old Jewish girl who, while escaping from a transport, injured her foot. As a result of a denunciation, Janina was arrested and imprisoned in the Majdanek camp, and then transported to Germany to work. Janina survived the war.
