Andrzej Adamczyk lived with his wife Agata and daughter Maria in Tarnawa (Małopolskie Province). He was the owner of a mill. At the late January 1944, a Jewish acquaintance, Józef Hehel and his approx. 12-year-old sister, knocked on their door and asked for help. The Adamczyk family hid them in the attic of their farm. After some time, for greater security, the girl was moved to a friend’s house. Unfortunately, there she would leave the hiding place at night, and was noticed, reported to the German police station and murdered. Józef remained with the Adamczyk family until the end of the war.
