A CARD FROM THE CALENDAR - ROMAN SEGELIN
„[…] my husband and I also went to Jerusalem and we planted [a tree] for your mother and uncle Roman in eternal memory of those good people […]”. – years ago, Marysia, who was rescued by Stanisława and Leon Segelin and Roman Segelin, Leon’s brother, wrote from Israel. For his selfless help to Jews, hiding them and feeding them, Roman was shot on 2 April 1944. Those for whom he paid the highest price found shelter in the Segelins’ house in Bircza and in a hiding place on the property of Michał and Katarzyna Gerul’s family in Łodzinka Górna. The Gerulas were also executed for this. They orphaned three children.
