On 2 November 1942, the ghetto in Kamień Koszyrski was liquidated. Almost 400 Jews attempted to flee it. Abraham Biber was one of those that refused to bow down to the German torturers and quietly accept his fate. He knew that staying in the ghetto meant death. After leaving it, he simply kept walking, not knowing where fate would lead him. Some days of wandering later, he arrived at Mała Głusza, at the house of Wincenty and Maria Tarnogórski, who lived in a small cottage with six children and their grandmother. Despite enormous risks that taking a Jew under their roof entailed, they gave him shelter. In the spring of 1943, Wincenty managed to make contact with the Suvorov partisans, whom Abraham joined and with whom he stayed until the war ended. In 1946, he left for Palestine.

On 5 September 1985, the Yad Vashem Institute awarded Wincent and Maria Tarnogórski the “Righteous Among the Nations” titles.
