A CARD FROM THE CALENDAR - FLORENTYNA AND FLORENTYNA DANUTA KRZESZEWSKA
„I hereby testify that Mrs Flora Krzeszewska and her daughter late Danuta saved my life as well as that of my family [husband Edmund and son Zdzisław] more than once during the last war. […] both mother and daughter always found safe shelter for us […]. She hid my son in her flat at all times, surrounded him with motherly care until the outbreak of the uprising, risking her own life and that of her family. I will keep eternal gratitude in my heart for Flora Krzeszewska and her dear daughter Danuta, who will never be forgotten”. – Paulina Rosenhauch Carter wrote after the war. Her second son, Tadeusz 'Edward’, died together with his beloved Danusia (Florentyna Danuta) in the Warsaw Uprising, saving a wounded female liaison officer during a bombardment of a hospital on 4 September.
