A CARD FROM THE CALENDAR - ANNA CHROMIK

You are here:

– Miss Krysia, I’m sorry to suggest this, but this will be the best place for now…’ Anna Chromik explained, indicating to the Jewish woman the place behind the wardrobe in the corner of the room. – My husband is on the front, there’s only Oleś and me left – she continued. The little boy carefully looked at the woman. She was about 20 years old and caught his eye with an unusual beauty. She was brought to the Chromik’s flat in Tercjarska Street – probably from the Lvov ghetto – by the brother of the befriended Flis family. Jan Chromik served in the 26th Infantry Regiment in Lwów, as did the non-commissioned officer Flis. That is how they knew each other. Flis would often visit Chromikowa with her little son. Both boys liked to play together and the ladies supported each other. Everyone – including Miss Krysia – survived the war.
